I've been working day and night to finish our outfits for Steamcon (and they're nearly done. Yay!). My favorite of the bunch is a military with a little 40s inspiration thrown in. You can see the original version here, although more has been added to it since then.

So today's visual inspiration of the Neo-Victorian/Steampunk persuasion focuses on military Steampunk.

Getting Cozy; or Fall Prep

So whether we like it or not, Fall is right around the corner. The days are going to get shorter, colder and wetter and soon we'll be wearing knits again. Honestly, I can't wait. I love the summer, but miss wearing peacoats, scarves and long skirts - plus Halloween!

Lovely! Grey, purple, white and black are definite faves - not to say I don't love the more natural red, green, yellow and orange that are quintessentially fall - these colors just struck me as unique, clean and beautiful.

Underwater Inspiration

Lately, I've had the ocean on my mind. Not the ever so cliche waves-crashing-upon-the-surf, but the dark, calm and mysterious world far below the waves.

Maybe it's due to my recent trip to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, or that I'm a Pisces or that I just love water. Whatever the reason, I've been thinking about sunken ships, sea creatures, nautical imagery and the like. There is just something so beautiful about the quietness of deteriorating metal structures and the lights refracting around it.

But no more talking, let's take a look shall we?

Citrus inspirations

One of my favorite things about summer is all the bright citrus colors: lemons, limes, oranges, etc. I know it's berry season (as someone who picks a lot of berries and makes a lot of pies come summer), but citrus just has the right colors. So I was inspired to create a treasury - "Citrus Summer"




I really love the palette and plan to use it as inspiration for my own work. Up until now, most of my pieces have been black and cream., but infusing color would add a nice pop to the graphics I use.
